Rotoscope

My first ever rotoscoped animation. lackadaisical monster reading the paper. Pretty short, very happy with it. Going to extend this project to include some watercoloring and paint splatters.

walk cycle mistake

This is a mistake I made with my first walk cycle. It looks like it is somewhere between a sexy saunter and a robot walk. I followed maya foundations to a T despite the fact their character is a robot, and mine is not. I thought it was pretty funny looking, and have since fixed it. I thought I should share because it makes me laugh.

Progress in General

This podcast is an attempt to catch up on my updates for the last month that I haven't gotten around to. I go relatively in depth about paint effects and touch on some of the rigging and modeling I had been doing since I last updated. I also discussed my idea for my second project for Film1 which is a pretty simple idea and mainly an exercise on the optical printer.

Film1 Edit2

This is an edit of my first film (shown earlier unedited) that I did in final cut. I attempted to fix some of the darkness with a brightness/contrast filter but failed miserably so I just put it back to its original colors. Unfortunately, when i was digitizing the Iris on the thing wouldn't open up anymore so this is the lightest I could get it. However, on the projector it looks substantially better. So, you'll have to excuse this crappy quality. This film was actually meant to be a lot more comedic and silly than this edit is. I went through my entire music library and Björk's "headphones" was one of the few songs that seemed to fit the footage, even though it's not what I was going for. So, this cut is kind of different than my original intent. I think it's nice though. Of course, it would be wonderful if it had it's own soundtrack. But, I'm not musically inclined and I don't know anyone who I can call at 12am who is. So this is why Björk is the music of choice. On another note, this is not what is handed in to class and I'm just doing this for fun. PS If anyone could give me some feedback either in the comments section for this podcast or VIA Email that would be wonderful!

Film 1 Movie Unedited

Basically, this is my first film ever/my first claymation ever. It's totally unedited, I will probably edit it twice-- once traditionally (this will be handed in in class) and once on the computer (just shown on the podcast). That's really basically it. The assignment was to do a portrait. This is pretty obvious once you watch it. I had originally started with a structural film dealing with single frames but it evolved into this. I had some problems with the lighting, I think I didn't compensate enough for the light lost doing a single frame. Also some issues w/ the tripod moving, the plate was really screwed up.

Claymation step by step

This Podcast basically goes into detail about my first Film AND first claymation all in one. It briefly touches on my progress in computer animation (which is basically nill). There are plenty of photos from my shoot and descriptions of how I did stuff. It dicusses what to expect in my next couple of episodes as well.

Vintage Animation

Last year's final project for Computer Animation 1, "Poo Poo Pile of Love." It's about a fly who finds his true love on garbage day. It made it into pixelnation 06'. Looking back it has a number of problems, but in the alloted amount of time I did the best I could. I especially hate the transitions (white flashes). I hadn't really figured out after effects at the time. Another problem is the compression. This is my first real computer animation project- all in all I'm pretty darn proud of it.

Movie of New Character Model

This is a 360˚ rotation of my new character. There are some issues with this model, including the texture on the boots. I believe the reflectivity got turned up accidently. The textures in general are just a rough idea of what they will be.

Modeling in Maya

This podcast will very briefly touch on my claymation disaster in Film1, including pictures of the scrapped sculpture. After, it goes into the concept narrative for my new animation project (Feedback on this would be great!). Afterwards, it goes into a bit of modeling in maya including screencaps of my project to go along w/ the text. In a nut shell, it finishes with the modeling of my first character.
